visit crab island
Visit Crab IslandNorth of the Destin bridge and just inside the entrance to Choctawhatchee Bay, Crab Island is one of Destin’s most popular attractions. Accessible only by boat, Crab Island is a large, shallow-water sandbar where people anchor up and enjoy the water, sun, and soft sand. Float on a raft or tube, fish, or snorkel in the shallow water with turtles, dolphins, and other sea life. Although it can be a popular party spot on major holidays, Crab Island is usually a family-friendly destination where visitors can even buy food and souvenirs from floating vendors.High tide is the best time to go so check the local tide charts. Be sure to take plenty of food, water, and sunscreen along.

Visit the Destin Harbor BoardwalkLocated at the southwestern edge of Destin, the Destin Harbor Boardwalk and Harborwalk Village offer shopping, dining, live music and nightlife, access to the beach, and a full-service marina with transient slips for visitors. If you would like to book a charter boat or sightseeing tour and let someone else do the driving for a while, there are a variety of options available here as well. Destin’s Boardwalk was finished in 2012 after local businesses and property owners came together to connect attractions, restaurants, and shops, and also create an easy way to access the local charter fleet. The Boardwalk also offers a great place to watch Destin’s weekly fireworks display Thursday evenings at 9:00 PM throughout the summer and on holidays like July 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.
