Walter

I had a great time on Walt's boat. He was very valuable in proposing routes that were appropriate in light of his knowledge of tides and currents in New York harbor. His boat was very seaworthy and easy to sail. I look forward to returning to New York to day sail again on Walt's boat. All in all a great sail in a very interesting cursing area i. e. liberty statue , ellis island , veranzanno narrows and bridge, coney island.

Walter responded quickly and was very accomodating. We took the boat our for a bareboat day charter. It was easy to sail and well equipped

We had a great time on Luders 30. We had 2 captains on board so we got some ideas from Walter and then took ourselves on a nice tour of the rivers and harbor. Walter did an excellent prep letting us know about the nuances of the boat and the 4 of us had a great time despite some rain. I would recommend it and will do it again next time I'm in NYC.

You are in for a real treat sailing with Walter! He is accommodating and friendly. Walter is a bit of a history buff and shared all kinds of interesting facts about buildings, landmarks, etc. Brilliant captain and a gorgeous vessel! We could not have asked for a better Saturday!

Second time on the Beckoned. Great boat and great guy!

Our trip on Walters boat was terrific. It was Fathers Day evening, beautiful weather, amazing sunset, etc. Captain Matt was excellent and made us all feel welcome and safe, and he told us about many of the places we saw on our sail. We would definitely recommend this experience and hope to do it again.

Amazingly enjoyable day at sea w Capt Walter! Everything was perfect...cruised LI Sound, some swimming, sightseeing and relaxing. Highly recommend without reservation!

Walter, his boat, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful afternoon sailing around New York harbor. The launch and return were extremely convenient and all communication with Walter about logistics was quick and easy.

The views of the city on from harbor are really fantastic and Walter is informative, friendly, and completely at home on the water.

We had a fantastic day. Walter took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable handling the boat before we set off, answered all of our questions, and really made the effort to ensure we all had a great time. 10/10, would definitely rent again.

We went out with Walter, and the sail was very nice. He took us around the harbour, in front of the Statue of Liberty and back thru the Buttermilk Channel and a few more unique places.

Walter made it easy to book the Luders 30 for the day. Check-in went smoothly, as did our day of sailing.

We received all the support, tips and techniques Walter have in hand. Beckoned performs well in a 100 Nautical Miles three cruising days on N.Y. Harbor and Long Island Sound. This vessel has a sturdy construction, points well in all wind direction, the full keel and hull shape allows a comfortable motion even on growing waves.

To put it simply, our boat cruise on the Beckoner with Walter was an experience of a lifetime: We got married on the boat! Getting married in the middle of the Hudson river could be daunting, but Walter made the process very easy and smooth. He anchored us in between the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and off in the distance, Manhattan, the bridges, and Brooklyn. It was a priceless setting.

Walter was so kind as to pick up and drop us off at Pier 5 of the new Brooklyn Bridge Park marina, which made it easy for our group of 6, as we all live in Brooklyn. We went out around 6pm and decided to stay out until 9:30pm. Throughout the process, Walter was helpful in pointing out local landmarks, explaining the rivers and bay to us, and was overall very accommodating and respectful of our group.

After we did our vows, we toured around under the Brooklyn bridge and around to the Hudson river (ie west side of manhattan) before getting dropped off in Brooklyn.

Walter was so nice, and his boat was great for our group to hang out, enjoy our own food and drinks, and for taking wonderful pictures. I would definitely recommend the Beckoner, either for getting married or just for a fantastic evening with close friends!

Great experience. The Luders 30 is very easy to sail boat. Some of the hardware dates to an earlier simpler time, but the boat has all the modern functions one needs. NY Harbor itself is a blast and while we caught a summer squall, the boat has not problems at all. The rental location itself near Pier 40 is very practical. Walter has excellent communication skills :) Would do it again!

Walter's boat is in pristine condition (and she has lots of heart) and thanks to Walter time and advices we could enjoy a superb cruise in NY harbor.

Ya'll just can't do better than Walter and his Luders 30. The boat is in great condition; Walter, well, he's got a few miles on him but he knows the Hudson and East River inside and out and he's a fun guy and a laid-back captain. Ask for a cruise by the Giant Vagina over on the NJ port on the Hudson in NY Harbor, or get as close as Homeland Security allows to Lady Liberty and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. The boat is moored on the West Side of Manhattan close by the Lincoln Tunnel. Whether you just want the boat or with Walter, thia boat is a winner.

I had an amazing time sailing Beckoned with Walter. He is a very experienced captain and knows the NYC waters and surroundings very well. I look forward to sailing with him again.

We had a great time on the sailboat! Walter took us out for an evening sail and it was beautiful. We were 2 couples and had a lovely night sailing around seeing the Statue of Liberty, Ellis island, Empire State Building, etc. Would definitely go out with Walter again.

Our crew of six managed to get from Pier 40, down through the harbor, past Lady Liberty and under the Verazanno to the breakwater on Rockaways with time for a relaxed swim and a bbq, home in time for sunset. The boat is an simple cracker, handles well, and everything is just as you'd want it to be. Walt was a gentleman, made the whole process very seamless. The fact that the boat is right in the city is fantastic. Will definitely be hiring from Walter again.

We had the pleasure of a few hours on the boat with Walter and learned a lot about the boat and NYC history. The boat is perfect for a day sail in the NYC area and surrounds. It is an older boat but is extremely well maintained. It sails nicely and is very stable. I would recommend it highly.

Took the boat out for a bareboat charter down to Coney Island in August. Walter was quick to respond to my messages to set up the reservation. He was also on-time (even early) the morning of the booking to give a thorough overview of the boat. The boat's not the fastest or newest on the water, but is great for a day sail. Will be definitely taking it out again in the future.

Walter is great to charter from and Beckoned is an absolute joy to sail. From first contact, Walter was very communicative and accommodating. He provided sound feedback and helped me build an excellent itinerary - from Pier 30 and up the East River to Long Island Sound and back. I've already booked my next charter with Walter and look forward sailing Beckoned again.
