“Capt. Ron Onorato started commercial fishing in the waters of Montauk Point in 1973 as a rod and reel striped bass fisherman. During that time he fished, he landed twenty-four striped bass over 50 pounds and pioneered the art of small boat fishing for giant bluefin tuna. In the 1980's fishing from his 22 foot Boston Whaler landed over 60 tuna weighing up to 804 pounds. In addition he has fished for striped bass extensively for over 30 years and has landed two striped bass over 60 pounds. The Captain is also is an accomplished writer having written numerous articles for the Long Island Fisherman, Salt Water Sportsman, and other fishing magazines. Since starting his charter fishing business, his customers have landed twenty four striped bass over 50 pounds. He brings all this experience to make your trip pleasant and productive.”

The Captain is expert and knows these waters very well, his Black Book contains all the tales. Captain Ron is friendly and engaging without making it all about him. Great day of fishing!

Great afternoon fishing in Montauk with Capt. Ron! Captain Ron runs a fishing machine perfectly built for fishing the Montauk water. We went trolling by the Montauk Lighthouse and caught some nice bluefish - very beautiful fish. It’s still early season for striped bass, but hope to be out again during peak striper season. Captain Ron was very helpful taking our group from NYC, it was too choppy to go out in the morning so Capt. Ron took us in the afternoon and we had a great trip.

Captain Ron was so welcoming from the minute we set foot on his boat. He knew exactly where to go as we caught 15 Stripers in an hour. We can’t wait to book with him again. We have been on numerous fishing charters and he was the best!

Captain Ron knew exactly where to go. Every time we put bait in the hook a
Fish would bite. We caught over 40 fish and 11 keepers. 4 types of fish including seabass, porgy, mackerel and even a trigger fish. We were fairly close to Block Island. Half day trip with a child was great for us. I would book him again. He definitely was safety first with kid on board.
